BRUSSELS: European governments alarmed at a proposed expansion of the ban on inflight laptops and tablets to passenger planes from the EU were holding urgent talks on Friday with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS spokesman David Lapan confirmed the talks but said no announcement was planned on whether the US government would expand the ban. Reuters reported on Wednesday that the Trump administration was likely to include some European countries in the ban. Homeland Security Secretary John Kell briefed members of the US Congress on Thursday and also met with executives at Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and American Airlines. The US Department of Homeland Security organised a teleconference to take place Friday afternoon with "key European partners" -- France, Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy.
